The Day The Earth Stood Still
It was on a Monday late in the afternoon
Darkness filled the day and horror became the view
Fear embraced hearts and eyes were obscured from light
Mothers damped babies like dimes without price
Foxes were heard howling in the suburbs
Couples were seen crossing streets without their loved ones
Traffic lights mixed from blue to red
And screams haunted minds throughout the day
Cities were deserted at an instant
Presidents were no different from regular peasants
Chill flooded the land from sea to sea
Pain was sealed on every womans lips
The sky turned black and the sun turned gray
You could see in a distance roses turning pale
Laughter ceased and everything stilled
Enemies were no more on the day the earth stood still
